Humanitarian Aid is Never a Crime – Drop the Charges

Ka Lei Maile Aliʻi member Karen Kahn wrote this piece about Scott Warren in June. Now Scott is set to stand trial for a second time in November for providing humanitarian aid at the Mexico-US border. Hui Aloha Aina passed a resolution in January in support of those individuals and organizations defending human rights in the region, effectively affirming that aloha ‘āina extends internationally. The Hawaiian Kingdom is a part of a global community, and if we are going to continue pushing for deoccupation we have to consider what relationships and causes we stand for as a country, because our wellbeing is tied to the wellbeing of others in struggle around the world.
